Carl is Head of Human Genetics and Senior Group Leader at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. His lab carries out genetic and genomic screens to identify genes, pathways and cell-types driving immune-mediated diseases, with a specific focus inflammatory bowel disease. The translation aims of this research are to identify candidate drug targets for disease and deliver on goals of personalised medicine.
